About Electric Locks

The term ‘electric lock’ encompasses a wide range of products, including electrified latches, solenoid bolts, motorized deadbolts, and more. What unifies these diverse products is their internal solenoid. Inside each lock, a small solenoid or motor is triggered by an electrical impulse, causing the lock to open.

These types of locks are particularly useful in situations where maglocks or electric strikes are not suitable. For instance, a solenoid bolt is ideal for doors with a very narrow depth due to its slim profile. These locks feature a latch or bolt that spans the gap between the door and the door frame to keep the door securely closed. When activated, the solenoid inside the lock moves the latch or bolt to either lock or unlock the door.

Solenoid bolts and other electric locking solutions provide a strong anchor point for single-point locking, combining both electric and mechanical force. Additionally, some models are certified under fire regulations for use on fire doors, ensuring safety and compliance with stringent standards.
